Garlic

Garlic - used as a cure-all for centuries. Garlic plays a part in one of Korea’s creation myths. A tiger and a bear prayed to Hwanung (the Supreme Divine Regent who taught his people about the arts, agriculture, & medicine) that they may become human. Upon hearing their prayers, Hwanung gave them 20 cloves of garlic and a bundle of mugwort, ordering them to eat only this sacred food and remain out of the sunlight for 100 days. The tiger gave up after about twenty days and left the cave. However, the bear remained and was transformed into a woman.  In time the woman became Hwanung’s wife & gave birth to a son called Dangun - meaning: "Altar Prince" & sandalwood.

“Garlic”  is made of 41 lovingly hand crafted individual pieces and measures approximately 10 x 12 inches unframed.  A range of glass was used including opaque, striated, and transparent.
