Beet in Triplicate

“Beet in Triplicate” is made of 97 individual pieces and measures approximately 15 in x 21 inches.   It is made using the copper foil or “tiffany” technique.

A range of glass was used including opaque, transparent, semi-transparent, seed glass and wispy glass.  The gentle beet comes in the most inspiring colors! Bulls Blood (purple) tender and sweet from the 1840s; Crapaudine (candy stripe) - the oldest beet still grown dates back 1,000 years; and Golden (orange) has been grown since the 1820s.  According to Irish folklore, if beet juice is used to write a love letter, you will be found irresistible by the object of your affections!
