Predator

Join the wake that these prey objects are throwing for our dissected frog. The ๐ŸŒ, fly, Luna moth, ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ›, ๐Ÿฆ‹, grasshopper, & ๐ŸฆŸ- all celebrate not being his last meal today.

Predator is comprised of over 300 pieces and dozens of glass textures & colors -  Inspired by vintage pull-down classroom diagrams. I tried to keep the textures and colors true to life - a little fancy wire work et voilรก! (I also love looking behind the curtain to see how the original map of the pattern grows into the finished product.)

Barn Owl

When I was asked to recreate this Barn Owl I was so happy. It was originally made as a wedding gift in 2011 for my best friend.  Seeing her take shape again on the table was like visiting an old friend. So much love went into the original that I hope all those all warm feelings got infused into it's latest incarnation.   Owls, totem of Athena; watcher in the night; aspect of the moon and femininity, and the renewal of cycles. Always with us. I hope she brings as much happiness to the home she's bound for as she brought me in the making.

(they're actually the same size but the perspective is a bit different 2011/2017)

Mother the World

Mother the World is made of 226 pieces of glass including: striated, cathedral, artique, and water glass.  It's based on a painting I made for my mother (top left image) when I was 19. The painting has seen better days, so as a surprise for her 85th birthday I sneaked a snap of it, created a glass pattern, and the results were pretty great if I say so myself and fairly true to the original in both design and color.

It depicts a Jewish mother praying over sabbath candles - but it's a universal image of any woman finding the time and space to think quiet, positive thoughts for the health and happiness of those she loves.

Elevation

Glass elevates all things. The things we hold dear and close, things that are with us everyday, things we love, things we fear, things we think are impossible. When we render anything in glass we make it majestic. It glows from within and paints our spaces with new light and color. Our eyes open a little wider when we see it for the first time. We appreciate it freshly each hour of the day as the sun travels from good morning to good night.  Its colors shift; brightening, darkening, and fading out to await a new dawn.

Transomvania

I was asked to fabricate a pair of new-old transom windows to install above interior bedrooms for a row home in Philadelphia.  The owners felt that their 100+ year old house needed some of its original charm back.

The result were two very custom panels.  The panels measure 11 1/8 x 28 3/4 and 14 7/8 x 28 1/2.  Both are made with clouded clear seed glass for the hexagons and very pale green seed glass for the triangles.  All of it was set into zinc framing and blackened  for age.
